Hypolimnas antevorta

A long-lived Nymphalid. This brilliant purple of this Central American species depends on the angle of view. The underside is silvery-grey and is camourflaged on bark and branches. Like many fruit-feeders, it is not an active flyer and spends long hours camourflaged against branches and bark. It lives up to six weeks in the display.
