Butterflies - Mid Wales

A territorial butterfly. The Speckled wood counts as one of the our most territorial butterflies. It is avidly defends any patch of sunlight in its woodland environment. In the butterfly garden, idividuals venture out from the neighbouring woodland to nectar on various flowers such as this Rudbeckia.
