Crinodendron hookerianum

An acid-lover. Giant, pendulous flowers cover this shrub from Chile in Spring. The flowers resemble those in the heather family but they belong to the unrelated and little-known family, the Elaeocarpacae. Like other plants that hale from this part of South America, they prefer acid-soils and do well in this part of Wales.
